I wasn't trying to be mean above, I hope it didn't come off as that way. I feel for you, sometimes when you are the most careful is when stuff happens. I have a scratch in the bumper to prove it

Stuff like that is easy to do. I'm anal about my ride just as everyone else - but if you use the thing, something is eventually bound to happen. It's a car, it can be fixed. I used to let things like that drive me crazy; but at the end of the day, it's just not worth worrying about. Rock chips are what eats at me, so I had 35% of my latest S2000 wrapped in 3m protectant. Anything else that gets damaged can be remedied by a body shop. Little things like a scrape on the bottom of the door, or a small chip aren't going to affect the value of the car when you resell it, so why stress?
I'm starting to see the light in this manner. I've had so much crap happen to my car that was out of my hands. I almost drive it now assuming the worst is going to happen to it & to not worry anymore. Notable mentions of dumb crap after 1.5 yrs of ownership are:

1. Racoon jumps out in front of me & damages bottom of front bumper.

2. Middle aged lady in a Aztec crosses the road without looking, $7k in damage to left front. (her insurance paid)

3. While cruising down a freeway, a truck kicks up a 6" long bolt & it flies through my AC condenser.

After something happens, you tell yourself that this is the last bad thing to happen, & the worst is over. Then another thing happens. You can go two ways with this. You can develop a eye twitch & never drive your S2k, or you can just take the bad with the good & enjoy the good times with the car.

When i was living at home and had my turbo'd prelude, i would back into the garage, and get as close as i could to the side so there was no way my dad could swing his company car impala's door into mine which he had done with my integra sooo being very careful and going back and forth looking at each mirror i backed up and hit my drivers side mirror on the edge of the garage opening. It broke a quater of it off but did not break the glass, i super glued it back on and used a lil touch of paint, i never forgave myself

The only thing ive done so far to hurt my S would be a few weeks ago my ex gf and i were out by the lake and when we first were just messing around her jeans left 3 really small scratches on my trunk that i didn't see until i washed it the next day.
Everytime i look at the little scratches i argue to myself wheather of not it was worth it. It was really REALLY good sex, but i love my S more than any thing so...? yeah hahah
but since it was technically a 3 way (her, me, S) it guess it was worth it.

Damn near the very first thing I did with my car was open the door in my garage and not notice it was about to hit my bike (up on a repair stand). Within a week of ownership I had a scratch in the door. BFD, it didn't kill me.

i've kicked my door shut many times.
test how much force is really needed to literally "key" my car. (takes a surprisingly a lot and a sharp key tooth. a dull key wont do it. this leads me to believe that most "keyed" cars are done with another object then an actual key).
used my door to shove a shopping cart away so i can get out.
play splashy splashy in large puddles of standing water.
and most recently, purposely hit a cardboard box that was in the middle of the road.
this was all done to/with my S. not on any beater/winter car.
it's only a car. theres many more just like it for sale. but i only do this to my car. i respect other people's vehicles.

LMAO! ^^ I have owned many beaters and enjoyed them to the fullest, but I could NEVER treat my S that way. I think the difference is that I plan on keeping this car forever.... but the 95 Nissan Hardbody I most recently had is another story. I drove that thing for like 5 years, never changed the oil once (just added a quart every week), jumped it, almost rolled it, taken out many dumpsters, rammed shopping carts, etc. then sold it for 700 less than I bought it for... HAHAH

scraped the bottom of my front bumper while parking at the gym the other day. extremely minor and it somehow barely caught the underside, even though when i looked at it afterwards it seems as if the curb should have scraped the face of the bumper.

and then when i played golf yesterday i'm pretty sure the neighboring vehicle dinged my driver side door which i just saw today in the morning.

door dings and yellow stains from bugs on my cars piss me off the most

OH man....LOL. I thought I had it bad. I like the eye twitch thing you said...cant stop laughing.

Well I had my left door smashed in by my GF then after getting it redone like new, a week later some jerkoff banged my door in again. Seems never ending.

No problemo dude. I have a good sense of humor so I take things lightly, unfortunately not when it comes to my ride...lol!

I don't plan on selling my car anytime soon so I don't worry. If it doesn't danger the car (paint taken off to bare metal causing rust) or affect the driving experience, then I don't really car all that much. I still wash and wax my car throughout the summer, but I park in a gravel lot with lots of sand/dust so I'd have to wash it daily.
