Default Everybody wants a piece (rant)

For the record, I do not condone street racing AT ALL. It's dangerous, and you have so much to lose if you get caught here in the lovely state of CALI.

But for some reason, I feel as if everybody and their momma wants to race me whenever I take out the S. There's not a day that goes by whenever I drive the S that someone wants to rev/ricer flyby/pace with me. I, for the most part, will never oblige for the reasons I stated above. It's just too risky.

However, there are a few car enthusiasts that do pace me just to give me the thumbs up, in which I will courteously signal back or give a little head nod out of respect.

Anybody else feel the same way as me?

Just a little rant. Thank you come again.

Must be a California thing. I've only had 2 instances of people seriously trying to race me in 5 years of owning this car...one was a Camaro Z28 and one was a kid in a swapped civic hatch. I did not oblige either of them.

I think the current generation of high school and college age racer types are far less numerous than they were about 10 years ago due to some of the reasons you mentioned.

JLUDE and RedCelica, consider yourselves lucky. Where I live, that's all I get. This car is attracting the attention that I DON'T want, unfortunately. But I also understand that most of these people are teenagers. My commute to work is pretty long (20 minutes one way), and I do live in the bay area, so the S is bound to attract someone.

Maybe I should sell her and get a Honda Fit. (/sarcasm )

Maybe because I'm over 50 that kids don't do that with me or my wife. I have yet to have someone try to race me and I know they can't catch my wife when she's behind the wheel

I have this happen to me sometimes, mostly by the 16 year olds in their riced out tirburons, or it's a VW. I usually just smile and watch them make a fool of themselves.

Happens once in a while but I am probably quite a bit older than you. Just ignore them or smile and shake your head as if in disbelief.

10 years ago when fast and furious was just released the import scene was insane. Now those people have grown up. Most drive mini vans or boring sedans. I have no idea what highschool kids these days are into. Although i hear drift is the fastest growing motorsport.

On a side note, i was 16 when F&F came out. Wrecked my dodge neon the day I saw it. Hit a boat....

Yeah, I guess its just a sign that I'm getting older haha. I'm in my late 20s, but I'll be upfront. I was that kid 10 years ago wanting to race everybody in my 1987 Volvo 240DL haha.

Karma's a bitch.

I live in Northern California, no one ever wants to play

Not that I like racing, condone, or whatever.... but it'd still be nice if they acted interested
