Was looking through my MY2000 S2000 Owners manual this evening and happened upon something that I think indicates that the S2000 was going to be an Acura in the USA, at least at some point..

Page 206:

"Aluminum Wheels
Clean your Acura's alluminum alloy wheels..."

Makes me think one of 2 things
1)the car was destined to be badged Acura until somepoint fairly far along in the process.
or
2) For some reason they started with a Acura template for the owners manual and did an incomplete search-and-replace (unlikely, imo).

Anyone else have any non-hearsay evidence of Acura badging?

I think it's probably just an error...the editor probably just overlooked those occurrences of Acura and as a result didn't change it to Honda.

Look on page 65 for a full explanation.

Acura is also mentioned on page 37 of the MY2001 manual. You are asked to see you Acura dealer "in the event of" kinda thing. Interesting.

I know for a fact that Honda was debating on whether to send this car to the US as a Honda or Acura. It was decided that it would be an Acura until the VERY last minute when Honda decided that they wanted to showcase the heritage of Honda and thus made badged it a Honda. The manual was probably printed as an ACURA S2000 originally and then, as they went to edit the book, they missed a few "Acura's".

I don't think this is an error as in the French user manual they mention Honda and not Acura which is not represented in Europe.

I think they probably just copied the wheel page from an Acura manual since most Acuras come with aluminum/alloy wheels. They just missed an error that's all. I don't think there was any question as to whether or not it was going to be badged as an Acura

I agree with Humanatek- I too remember reading an article on how the S2K was originally going to be an Acura model.
