EVO and S2K..... by evo drivers
Well its up to you but Ive had both and guess what I no longer have the S2K, so that says something right there. Dont get me wrong our S2K was very nice especially with all the CF parts, body kit and wheels, but in my case once I drove the Evo for a few days, I would get in the S and it felt gutless. I dont regret selling the S for a second (not because I replaced it with a Z06) but the first year it was fun to drive, but after that it got boring, just my .02 csents. Good luck on your decision.
S2000. The fact of the matter is, even an EVO is going to feel slow after you get used to it. I however, never get sick of driving around topless and the S2000 is no slouch either. Of course the EVO will respond better to mods, but with Mitsubishi's track record of DSM reliability, I wouldn't risk voiding a warranty.
I personally would go with the EVO now that I have become sick of being cramped and sweaty all the time (daily driver). Top down in Cali weather is a bit uncomfortable but i'll be damned if I leave the top up.
If you have another car to go with either the S2K or the EVO, then definatly go with the S2K. If its going to be a daily driver, the EVO will be an easier ride.
I had fun in both cars on the testdrive (dealerships WANTED me to drive hard so I would be impressed and buy the car...) but I definatly had more fun in the S2K. No matter what you do to the EVO it will always be and feel like a sedan.

Have you heard about a EVO having crank walk? I haven't.I've driven a S2000. I had a ITR at the time so it felt a little faster than what I had. Thing is with the EVO, once you get used to it and if feels slow, you can always add a mod here and there to make it faster. You can't really do that with the S2000. Sure you could add parts, but how much faster are they actually gonna make it?
You just have to look at what you want in a car. IMO, both cars look nice. Both cars look even better with wheels and such. If you like to ride around with a quick and nice looking car go with the S2000. If you plan on modding and getting power for your dollar get the EVO.
I like how my car is so useful all year long. It still gets traction in the snow with about 320 awhp. I have alot of room for other people or what else I need to put in my car. I'm married with a pregnant wife so a roadster just won't work for me. My car fit smy lifestyle and what I actually want out of a car.
Good luck with your choice. You can't go wrong with either.

These cars are in two different ballparks and serve way different purposes...just curious what made you come down to these 2 as they are really an apples to oranges comparison? When shopping for cars I never compared a sedan to a conv...knew I wanted a conv. all along and for that the S is the best bang for the buck...period.
IMHO, if you don't need the room and want a great fun car, buy the S. If you need the room and still want a fun car get the EVO.

Correcto!, they cant be anymore different from each other. I wanted a car (sports car) that is "fun" factor. DD, and a keeper.
I have a 04 TL 6mt.....its great for long distance trips, highway, daily driver, comfortable and modestly capable.....but I wanted a "sports" car, not half-sport half lux vehicle.
so I came to s2ki and found s2000 as a pure sports car, and convertible is great vehicle to own!!!!
then my friend bought himself 05 STI.....got me thinking.
I think i can't lose getting either one. I also looked at g35 but its kinda pricey.
also used m3 sound awesome, but reliablity is questionable.
so still looking. hopefully I will make up my mind soon.
I currently own both cars. Here is my take:
1) Identify what you need (do you need a 4 season car with a back seat and trunk? Do you have a family? if so get the Evo) (If you get the s2000 you will HATE taking it outduring the winter).
2) Test drive both cars.
3) Recognize that the s2000 will cost much less to maintain.
4) Recognize that the evo can be very reialble but but needs much maintainence and care (I have 83K on my evo).
5) Understand that you will get stares from hot girls in the s2000.
6) Understand that you will get stares from shady looking guys in the evo.
Personally, NOTHING beats carving up some back roads with the top down on a warm summer night. I recently went to the dragon (12 hours drive each way). Guess which car I took? Also, your significant other will appreciate the roadster experience, the S can create some magical nights
But if this is going to be your only car.......I would go with the Evo.
If you are close to CT, i would be more than happy to take you for a back to back ride.
I would honestly try to buy a used 02 (glass rear window/updated banjo bolts/retuned suspension). They are such good values! I got mine for $19,000 with 28K on the clock and an extended honda certified warrentee!
