THanks S2000vegas,

you are right, hard decision.

When I think of S2K, I see bright sunny days, colorfull fall, and beautiful spring weather....top down....engine revving.....everything in place...like a happy place.....

then the evo comes to mind.......raw....loud.....heart throbbing.....neck breaking.....everything starts to go in hyper speed mode.....

and that damn 0% financing........gots to get it out of my head......

back to the topic.....i am still surprised they defended S2K, more than necessary.....good for them!!!

Real car guys will speak up and be real about cars....Outside of the people that bought Evos thinking it will improve their manhood, the Evo is a Driver's car, as the S2000 is....They are just different and any true enthusiast will speak intelligently about a good car....As the Evo guys did...

for the Evo guys.....

Correcto!, they cant be anymore different from each other.

I wanted a car (sports car) that is "fun" factor. DD, and a keeper.

I have a 04 TL 6mt.....its great for long distance trips, highway, daily driver, comfortable and modestly capable.....but I wanted a "sports" car, not half-sport half lux vehicle.

so I came to s2ki and found s2000 as a pure sports car, and convertible is great vehicle to own!!!!

then my friend bought himself 05 STI.....got me thinking.

I think i can't lose getting either one. I also looked at g35 but its kinda pricey.

also used m3 sound awesome, but reliablity is questionable.

so still looking. hopefully I will make up my mind soon.
Tell you what, I would pick an STi over an Evo myself (especially the restyled 06 STi -- it looks great). The STi is more balanced overall (less edgy which has pluses and minuses) and Subaru's symmetrical AWD system is significantly more sophisticated than Mitsu's (which is FWD based with a transverse engine, believe it or not). The STi boxer engine is unique, very torquey down low, and makes a wonderful rumble. Quite robust too.

I guess the bottom line -- Evo is certainly a great sports sedan, but make sure you test drive an STi for yourself before deciding anything -- it's a worthy comparison to the Evo.

BTW, I used to own a WRX and have done the "AWD sports sedan" thing. The S2K is about a zillion times more fun and rewarding to drive.

You know, the current S2K lease is equivalent to 1.75% financing. Not zero, but damn good for a Honda deal....

the two are cars i had in mind when i was looking around...i just couldn't help but stay with my roots...HONDA since it came out, the s2k has always been "my next car." it's fun, still turns heads, and many people still don't know what it is. The evo IMO can still look like every other car out there.

i've had 2 subaru imprezas and driven 2 evo's one gsr and the other an mr. they are awesome cars and i love being able to have a car that can do ANYTHING and take anywhere. (dont take that to literal) but ive also had 3 s14's and i still want an s2k (couldnt afford it before) but now i'm in the market. the sedan's look "cool" but i like the s2k for its look and the fun factor, Mmmm drop top! sporty is sexy.

performace wise, all the cars had its up and downs 1 thing that made the awd's faster in the 1/4 is the ability to launch the way they do. on a roadcourse they dont have that advantage anymore.

so i guess like people say, its what YOU want and need, for me. i love the drop top, high redline and i dont need to be a taxi to anyone nor do i need to go to the market weekly.

things id miss with AWD sedan is.. i dont know how ill go snowboard, but i guess other people can drive. probably miss crusining with 4 of your friends or maybe id miss the low end and how much power could be made so easily.

sorry for rambling hahaha

I'm fortunate enough to own both. Though my S2000 is an awesome track car, it makes a terrible street car (it's nowhere close to stock, so save your flames) so I bought an Evo as a daily driver. After spending some seat time in the Evo, though, I fear that after a few 'minor' mods the Mitsubishi will also be as good or better as a track car than the S2000 AND will haul 4 people in comfort.

But if performance and convenience are secondary to style and driver involvement, the S2000 is a great choice.

^ I agree. To me the Evo is much better as a daily driver. I found myself driving with the top up most of the time for the simple fact that the car was faster with it up

Lol, I remember going x-mas shopping one year and forgot we brang the S2K, it was not a fun drive home, I had stuff all over my lap and could barely move, so that we didnt have to come back

I saved up 2yrs for an S2000 a while back, but sold out to the Evo simply cuz at that time of my life (college student), the S2000 was just too impractical, as much as I wanted it back then. I test drove an S2000 once, it felt very nice (more of a driver's car than the Evo), but it just reminded me more that it was just a sunny Sunday car. There were other factors too, like insurance was a lot more for an S2000. Plus, who could brush off the power potential of the 4g63.

as i said before. 2 different cars built for 1 thing. going fast on a track.

they both have their fanbase and both do what they are designed to do...well.

IMO they both have their strong points and weak points. 1 has torque. 1 revs to high heaven. 1 handles like a go cart with an extra 50 lbs. 1 handles like a go cart.

i dont own an evo....my 3000gt has yet to be beaten by 1 anyways. it also happens to pwn on auto-x...especially for such a large car. we will see how the s2k is when we take delivery shortly.

Yeah....every car has weird looking scoops and vent on the front, big red Brembo brakes, and a big carbon fiber wing on the trunk. I can see what your saying.

IMO...the EVO sticks out like a sore thumb on a public road or parking lot. It looks nothing like a normal car going down the road.
