Exhaust for 2006
I appreciate your patience with me on this one - I know it's been discussed here often - I've read the posts and just got confused. I want more torque - low and mid-range - and more sound. Which pipe would you recommend for the 06 and do I need to get a new chip also. Should I get headers or is the exhaust enough?
I did this on my HD and I need a chip and went with 2-1 for more power. Is it the same with the S2k? I have seen good things about the Mugen but don't really know much about the whole topic.
I just got the S2k and love it. I have 2 bikes - RKC and Goldwing - I may give them both up now that I have the S2k - I find it to be a very easy daily driver and not very loud at all - at least compared to the bikes.
I'm 65 so, so much for this being a young persons car.
Thanks in advance for all your help. Steve

I hear the Mugen 2.2 header gives decent mid-range gains..

From what I've been reading, the only exhaust that will give you noticeable power over stock is a single pipe exhaust. The stock exhaust flows excellent, but is quiet and heavy. So if you want more midrange power, looks like the Mugen header is the best bet. And from what I've been reading, it looks like Mugen is one of the few (if not the only) companies that designed a header specifically for the 2.2 engine. I could be wrong b/c I didn't research extensively on that topic. Rick's header is supposedly a Mugen copy, which is nice, but they haven't emailed me back with an answer whether they have versions for the 2.0 and 2.2 liter. Probably not.
The Hondata reflash along with the header should give you decent power gains.

if you crave more torqe your best bet would be one of the following combinations.
Combo 1
1. Header of your choice
2. Intake of your choice
3. Hondata Reflash, it drops the Vtec point to around 4200rpm that should provide all the torqu you might want down low.
Combo 2
same 1 and 2
3. 4.53 Rear end. that will get your car moving instantly. you will not have the same top end but instant grunt will be amazing.
you can also supersize your combo's with an exhaust of your choice, find out if it fits first.

Another header option would be Rick's header which is pretty much a copy of the Mugen header for half the price. He is a site sponsor, Ricks2k.com.
