Back when I had my 385-hp Camaro SS, LS1.com had a FAQ section with lots of sound files on aftermarket exhausts. I went with Borla as a result of being able to hear it first. If there was a way we could compile all the S2K systems floating around out there and provide a link to 'em that would be awesome. My Tanabe Racing Medalion is very loud and aggressive but compared to the Borla in that Camaro, is relatively quiet (until VTEC). I'm still trying to figure out a way to get my car on a sound file. No mini tape recorder.

I gained 9.2 peak hp (8600 RPM) with my Tanabe and 4-5 across the board. All else at the time was stock.

empirical data from most members shows that dual-outlet exhausts will gain little to no power on the S2000. N1 (single-outlet) exhausts show some consistent gains, but nothing spectacular. The problem with N1 exhausts is that they are LOUD. Either type is likely to save weight, though, which is always a bonus. I've not heard a wide variety of S2000 exhausts, but I like the HKS sound quite a bit. One nice thing -- due to the nature of the engine, I've not heard a single S2000 that sounds like the Civic "fart" sound.

How about just mufflers? Anyone got the 411 on some good sounding ones. I really don't care for a lot of power (most cat-backs don't add much anyway). I would just like to sound a little more distinctive.
