Default Exhaust Upgrades...

What is the biggest choke point on our exhaust system? There are 3 things I can upgrade, 1) headers, 2) test pipe, 3) catback. If I were going to do 2 of those and I want a little performance and a little meaner sound, which are the best 2 to do?

testpipe chokes the most.. then i'd say the exhaust will make the bigger difference but only if you go with a single with 70mm piping (aka loud).

Definetly not going with a 70mm single. I think the singles look ricey and sound like a swarm of angry bees. I was thinking of maybe a dual sparrow as I've heard they are nice. I will listen to some before i buy.

So something like a berk header wouldnt help that much?

no way to know whether an exhaust or header will help more without knowing the specific model. I would not get a test pipe first until you know the size of the exhaust you will be getting, and whether or not the exhaust comes with a straight pipe

If you are going with a dual exhaust, the gains will be minimal.

You might as well get the header and the dual exhaust. That way you can decrease weight (in both areas) and pick up a few HP

I would say a TP and exhaust. If you are thinking about a header, get a good one and stay away from the DC model.

yep, replacing the cat with a testpipe would probably yield the most gains.

Im in the same boat as you right now! Im ready to buy a Exhaust as soon as I decide which one. I want the gains but singles are just too loud! Im pretty much set on the T1r sparrow the 63mm or 70mm, ive heard the 63 and is sweet sounding, havent heard the 70mm, I could go a bit louder (than the 63), but am not sure how much louder the70mm is! plus the 70mm comes with a test pipe! Anyone have any input, sugg.? Have heard good gains with the 70mm! OK with the 63mm.

I'm going with the T1R sparrow on mine. I plan on getting the 70mm.
