Default Extended Powertrain Warranty

Sup,
I am looking to buy an 02 s2000 soon and my question is that the car has an extended powertrain warranty. What does that exactly cover i was told that it covers everything that isnt routine maintance. So basically does that include electrical lets say if the ECU when dead or if the top didnt work? Just trying to get everything squared away before i do the purchase. If anyone has this warranty please leave your .02 cents thanx peace.

Just go to Honda's website and read the agreement. That's what I did. Anything anyone says here's meaningless. Only the actual agreement matters. Ditto as to whether it transfers to you on a sale.

You SHOULD read here about how HondaCare doesn't seem to cover moded cars.

ell i just went on the Honda web site and it lists what the powertrain warranty covers. It covers the following engine, driveline and transmission. So basically if anything else goes wrong its coming out of my pocket? It says about routine maintance it will not cover which i knew. What about the engine do they cover or tranny? It isnt specific at all. Peace

Keep in mind, the extended "Warranty" isn't really a warranty. It's more like an insurance policy. It doesn't seem to fall under the normal warranty requirements so, they can deny coverage at will. If you don't follow the letter of the agreement, they won't cover it.

Download and read the "Sample Contract" PDF.

Look at section IV, item C. Basically any mods including stereo can invalidate the contract at Honda's discretion. If you don't keep up with scheduled maintainance, it's invalidated too.

Basically is looks like they can deny you at will because section D says "using the vehicle in any manner not recommended by AMERICAN HONDA". It looks like the extended warranty's not worth much unless the car's bone stock and well maintained.

Thanx alot also i was reading about the transfering of the warranty an it says in FL only it is allowed with the life of the contract. I am in FL but the car isnt and its with its 2nd owner. SO i am wondering if it will allow me to get the warranty? This is some confusing stuff because i am reading about honda care warranty is that the same as the extended warranty from a car from 2002?
