Default Soft Top Rattle Fixed!

This will be brief as I am dead tired from my 5:30 am commute to Crystal Cove (all I can say about that is Enzo!!!)
I will ask Jeff (aka, the Hardtopguy) to add to this thread incase I am unclear in any possible way and to elaborate on how the fix was accomplished.
The interesting thing I will note is, this was in fact a 2 part fix but in some cases it may only involve the 1st of the 2 parts.
Part 1)
The "tapping" sound I was experiencing that I and many others have complained about relates to the middle bar above the window that has a plastic covering - this is the bar that intersects with the crossbar. Simply put, Honda might have engineered a brilliant car in the S but that little piece of plastic that covers the middle bar was not developed with the same ingenuity as the engine, transmission etc etc etc
The plastic covering is just a bad fit - I don

I had always believed that hardtop strikers were already installed from the factory with AP2s.

Evidently not a problem with all AP2's or '06s. Mine so far is dead silent. IT probably has more to do with initial build and installation than any design problem.
As time goes by and things become looser, this may change.
I would expect this also to be normal and one of those problems to be tackled as they occur.
The S2000's are relatively rattle and squeek free which is pretty amazing considering the built in stiffness of the chasis.

My 06 has the same problem. Sounds like there's a loose golf ball rolling around in there. Thanks for the info. I wonder if this would be a TSB or recall issue, since the car is supposed to be covered bumper-to-bumper for the first 3 years.

I heard about Jeff making a trip down to fix a soft top. Glad to hear she's all fixed up.

Unfortunately not - that would have eliminated 50% of the sounds from the get go
