Default Extended Warranty

How many of you out there have it?

How much was it?

Do you think it was worth it?

Up to how many miles are you covered?

What is covered?

How many out there who did not get it wish they had it now?

Any other insights you would like to share?

I'm contemplating it on the new 2002 I'm about to order and am curious what you all think.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

1. Have it.
2. $450
3. Yes or I wouldn't have bought it.
4. 100K miles
5. It's through Honda, so the same, but just longer.
6. N/A
7. If you think about it, common sense really isn't that common.

afetsman- many thanks for your reply!
I really liked your #7. My Dad often said "common sense in an uncommon manner is called wisdom."

The reason I posted this question is because I plan to put some serious mileage on my 2002 and a good portion will be Driving School - so posts like this got me a wonderin

I think an extended warranty is a good buy through honda if it's bumper to bumper and it has a low deductible (if any). It will save your butt if you end up getting one of those 37K duds as well as allowing you to indulge that moment of weakness in the future when you consider selling the car. I think you will be able to get at least that much more at resale if you have 30K-40K left on your bumper to bumper.

Talked to a local Honda dealer today.... I've got 24k on my 2000, and for an extended warrenty to 100k, and 60 monhts, its $1,065.

Thats not the Honda extended warrenty, but a third party, and its not bumber to bumper!

As a matter of fact it is the Honda 7yr./100k extended warranty. Just to make sure I even checked my finance sheet. It was $465, not $450. Sorry for the mistake.

afetsman- I'm impressed, thanks for your attention to detail!
Sounds like you got yourself a great deal. Did you get the extended warranty at purchase time or after you had had the car for a while?
I'm thinking very seriously about getting the package and I appreciate your feedback.

Anybody else want to jump in? The water is fine!

just picked up car last night. Extended to 7 year/75K for $800 - they wanted $1575, but I said "on the s2ki website the average was about 800", and he took it as fact. I researched quickly before heading to the dealer - and felt $800 was fair. No deductible, all Honda. Bet its killin' you waiting, isn't it?! Know how you feel. Best of luck!

1. Got it
2. $995
3. We'll see later...
4. 72 mos/100K
5. Everything but wear and tear items, it appears
6. n/a
7. DON'T get HondaCare's warranty. If you do, you can only use Honda's service departments (and we know how competent they are). Finance through a credit union and get THEIR extended warranty or through a company that allows you to use any ASE certified mechanic, as mine does.
8. Definitely get it... some of the failures I've seen recently make me cringe to think of having to pay for them out of pocket later!
