Extended Warranty
Have been watching these threads for a while. Sondra, good point on 3rd party. There is a very competent Honda/Accura shop locally that I'd rather have do the work. any recommendation on who to buy warranty from? Am thinking of 7yr/100k

If you want a third party warranty, check out http://www.1sourceautowarranty.com/ . Their prices seem reasonable and they offer a 10year/100,000mile warranty with 0 deductible for less than $1000. The great thing about these third party warranties is you can take you car to any ASE mechanic including the dealer.
Well, the bottom line here is this: You already get 3 years from the factory. If you buy an extended (7 year was offered to me), then you are essentially paying twice for the first 3 years (and usually, if you're gonna have problems...it'll be within those 3 years). I think it is a big WASTE OF MONEY myself to get an extended warranty on a Honda. But in my case....it's a 3rd vehicle, and just a weekend toy for the most part. If it's an every day car for some people....then they might want to consider the extended warranty. Consumer Reports once stated, that if you buy a reliable product, then alot of times you would be best off to put the money you would have spent for an extended warranty, into the bank....and then when nothing goes wrong (which is ususally the case with a RELIABLE product), you are that much money ahead. That's their philosophy anyway, and I only put 3,000 miles per year MAX on my car, so as I said....I don't believe I need it. Chow, redical
As I go into week 6 of my unfixed ECM/Immobilizer problem I've decided against any extended warranty (I got the letter a couple months ago about it). If anything breaks I'll replace it myself. Besides it'll give me reason to upgrade with aftermarket parts.
