Default Extended Warranty ?

I have decided to sell my AP2. I did a search and my asking price was a little over what blue book said it should be. Then I remembered that i had purchased the 7yr/100,000 mile extended warranty and it costed me $1950. That's where that difference is at!!

My question is; has anyone cancelled theirs? Does the dealer give you a hard time about it? I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they tell me but I already expect them trying to convince them to keep it.

Also, what is you experince with transferring the warranties? Do you guys think it would be good to give my buyer the option to keep it by paying a little more than what he should? In other words I can give him the price with extended warranty which may not be such a bad idea for him or tell him I can cancel it and lower the price a bit.

Thanks in advance for your time. Please share your toughts and experiences.

By canceling it, you'll get a pro-rated refund back. Not sure about transfers.

like the guy just said ^^^^ canceling your extended warranty will only get you a pro-rated/partial refund not the full $1950 or whatever you originally paid.

extended warrantees when selling used cars are a plus, but there's no way a buyer is going to pay you an extra $1950 for it....maybe an extra few hundred to a thousand tops if the buyer is real paranoid.

i'd try to sell your car w/the warranty first, so that you can use it a selling point. it wouldn't be very smart to cancel it prematurely because once it's gone, it's gone. just give the prospective buyers the the option whether they want the warranty and then cancel later on if necessary.

btw, there are transfer fees when transferring most extended warrantees....usually under $100,

EXTEND THE WARRANTY.

After having to put a new motor in, and rebuilding the tranny....it really would have been nice to have the 7 yr/100K.
