Default Eyelids

Has anyone thought of making their own eyelids for the S2K? I looked into it, and apart from buying some soft plastic and bending it under the heat and then sanding it down, adding some touch paint to it to match the colour of the car. It shouldnt be much of a problem right?

Just one thought, was the C West one glued on or attached like the Hamann Eyelids. I thought there isnt any space at the top of the light unlike the Beemer. Any ideas anyone?

thanks

Mine are the glue on style. However I do wish they were thiner, like the bwm ones. A few of the guys around here had a great suggestion that I wish I had heard before I bought the eyelids, that being take the headlight off the car and bring them to the dealer and have eyelids painted on. I'll most likely do this myself if the eyelid start to pull up at all.

Here's a pic

I think that the glue on is better (although it might also peel off) ... what type of glue did you use darkknight?

I was just concerned that if you use a powerful (mind my poor usage) glue, it cannot be taken off. If something weaker was used, I was also afraid that wind at high speeds plus rain sun would wear it down and it might just get blown away one day.

The glue that came with the eyelids is very similar to the glue that is used for installing windshields. Like black tar. You have to apply a very thin coat. My eyelids came with a small spreading tool, looks like a mason trowl(sp?) only much smaller. Then just apply the addhesive, spread, and stick it on. Not really that hard. But a very messy job, that black addhesive get everywhere. Thankfully they also come with an addhesive remover to get it off.
Which works great!

Hope this helps

Go with my idea.........take them out and bring them to a body shop to have them painted!

Much easier and will 1. Look better 2. Not peel off 3. Will be perfectly flat!

OH yea and probably will be chaper too.

Darknight.... your car looks so sick. So clean. All you need now is some wheels

What kinda eye lids did you use. I know there are a few different ones on the market and some are thinner or thicker than others. I just got my C west ones and i believe they are a little, just a litttle, thinner then yours. Mine also came with two strips of double sided tape instead of the goop you are talking about. Dont know really which is better.

I wanted to have mine painted but i saw ones that were and it just didnt look right. painted glass and painted metal doesn t look the same. i dont know, i saw it on a different car, maybe our with ours it would.

i love his freaken car too...
the cleaner i make my yellow, the more boring it looks for some reason...
i think silver and blue look best when "clean" i think yellow when "cleaned up a bit" tends to look a bit boring!

Thank you guys so much for your kind words!! We try.
Wheels will be getting wheel later this year. Its just such a hard choice.

We'll be installing the (comp worthy) stereo and new wheels this year and if I can get the cash together a new set of Tein coilovers.

docofmind:
I do wish the eyelids were thinner but oh well.... I will most likely change them to a thinner type of plastic. The thing I liked about the adhesive is that its very strong and waterproof so there's no chance its going to come flying off running down the highway... which is a good thing.

TommyAmrani:
We almost bought a yellow one but my mom told us to wait and get the blue. We let her drive it once and a while and she didn't like the idea of driving a yellow car. hehe I'm glad we waited. There's penlty of stuff you can do to your. Its coming along nicely man.

Thanks again guys!
