I would think a car like the Lotus 340R would be closest to the immediate raw feel of the open wheel experience. Needs paddle shifters and the Ferrari coupled clutch system from the 360 F1.

F1 has become somewhat one-sided, if you weren't with either of the 2 top teams, you don't get much attention.

I would like to see the rules changed so that the winner of one race has to drive the last place car in the next race, and the second place finisher gets the winners ride. Everybody moves up to the the car that beat them in the race for the next event. Point totals kept the same. This would make for an exciting season and the points would truly reflect a drivers ability on an equal playing field.

I read somewhere that the S2000 engine developes about the same hp per liter as a 67 Cogsworth V-8 F1 engine, which didn't have to meet emission or noise regulations and only lasted at best one weekend.

Another interesting fact is that the engine in the S2000 has a faster piston speed than an F1 engine. Our stroke is 82mm @ 9300rpm and the F1 is 42mm @ 18,000rpm.

I am a huge fan of F1. I have been to F1 in Indy this year. I saw Jenson, Ralf, Eddie Jordan, Jacki Steward, Mark Gene and Johnny Herbert up close. I was too busy taking pictures. So, no auto graph for me.

One thing I really regred is that I didn't drive my S2K down to Indy. They would be cool to drive on the street with so many Ferraris.

Anyone choosing to finish second would bunch the cars up if he choose not to lead. Come to think of it, maybe thats all the changes needed for F1. Award more points for second than first.

Picture this, if everyone wanted to finish second, the leader would have to slow down to keep second place in sight, second place would have to drive faster than the man in third, but not faster than the leader. Then we have everyone else going as fast as they can to reach the front. Sounds like a more exciting race than some of the F1 parades of late.

If you want more passing watch CART or ::shudder:: nascar. F1 is about high technology and great driving, I hope it stays that way too.

I am posting this site for those who are really interested about F1 on going news. This site is in England and is updated hourly during the season. I think they update it 3-4 times a week during off-season. http://www.itv-f1.com/
