factory alarm system

Default factory alarm system

my ap1 as factory alarm unit. when i bought the car used, the remote fob didn't have the alarm button. i just purchase a fob with the Option button for the alarm, but i need instruction on how to program the fob to the factory alarm unit. where i can get the user manual for the factory alarm. thanks,

I don't believe that there is a stock factory alarm. It must be aftermarket.

it looks just like the factory keyless remote but instead of having the trunk release button, it's replaced with the "Option" button. i'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

I don't think the option button is for an alarm, but I could be wrong.

it doesn't even matter. If someone stuck their arm in and unlocked the door the alarm WILL NOT go off. So its just better to get and aftermarket alarm. For me I got the Viper 5900 it has a mile long range.

That is only true if you have the standard keyless entry system. I can assure you, if you bought and installed the accessory alarm (sold as an accessory, view the link above), it will absolutely go off. Unfortunately, many can't seem to tell the difference between a keyless entry and an actual alarm.

The key fob is identical (at least on my model year), with the exception of the trunk release button. The ones from the stock keyless entry system have an open trunk diagram on the trunk release button, and the ones for the accessory alarm say "option" instead. This is clearly illustrated on page 3 of the installation instructions above.
