fake brake ducts?

Default fake brake ducts?
What's up with the covers over the brake ducts on the stock bumper? Can they be easily removed for any benefit?

They can be cut out and used for functional brake cooling. There are a number of threads on this topic. Search under "brake cooling" or "brake ducting".
