Feedback on potential purchase
Found this today and it's local, so I'm really interested. Background on me is a former owner of a beautiful S2K that I had an accident in after only 9 months. Been wanting another one since. That was 2 years ago. I found this one today. Let me know what you think about the car and the price. All feedback welcome. Looking for a car I can drive some but keep it somewhat as a collector's item by not putting too many miles on it, though it will be hard not to drive it a lot.

Appreciate the forum feedback on the car and the price. Looking at it tomorrow.

This is the second under-20K miles 2001 to show up here this week. Both in the same price range although widely separated geographically. Keeping track of asking prices is fairly easy but what they sell for is more difficult. Buying is emotional. Selling is rational. I have a well known bias for the late AP2 cars and $20K seems pretty high to me for a 2001 car as that's what I paid for my 38K mile 2006 two years ago next week.
New OEM roof is a plus especially if you don't need it installed right now.
Hopefully the nearly new tires are not from Walmart or crappy all-seasons (assuming you want to push the car a bit).
You know the cars so know what to look for. Let us know!

I'd rather have a newer model year (with more miles if needed).
I have a 00 that I bought 10 years ago with 18009 miles after a 9 mile test drive.
I have no plans to sell it. But, if I totaled it or sold it...I'd be looking for a low to medium mile (70K or under) 06+.

gut feel-
$18k is not a bad deal if you buy and hold and don't mod.
Personally, I don't think S2000s have bottomed yet but are getting close.
Driving a pristine example of the pure if imperfect original beast for a few years will cost little in depreciation.
Despite rumors, Honda ( nor anybody else) cannot or will not build a real replacement for the S2000.
Any attempt will be a complex technological effort aimed at kale munchers who grew up with video games and automatic transmission

Great feedback as always from this forum. I appreciate you guys taking the time to respond. I'll know a lot more about just how nice this one is when I look at it this afternoon. I'll let you all know where I go with this.
Thanks again,
Brian

Or maybe I just feel that way because I'm actively looking for one now.
BBlaze...that's a $15k car max IMO. The low mileage is nice but for $20k you can get a much newer car with only slightly higher mileage. Do not be afraid of 40-50k mile cars. They are barely broken in. Assuming the compression check comes out well these motors are pretty much bulletproof.
