Final concensus on coolant bypass?
Hey guys I tried to do some searching on this topic but I didnt find many. To those that dont know what it is supposedly you block the coolant going to the throttle body and intake manifold which results in lower intake temperatures, and better throttle response/power. It also helps in the summer time with bogging from the line, supposedly completely gets rid of any heat bog. Also the hondata intake maifold gasket essentially does the same thing which also blocks coolant passes. But I do remember reading from xviper somewhere that this doesnt work so im just wondering if any final concensus has been done on this? Works? doesnt work? I could definately use this in the hot FL weather.
Great answer! If it does anything at all then it would be worth it because it takes almost no time to do and cost is practically nothing. So the question again is "does it work in reducing the temperature of the air entering the engine? I personally cant feel any difference with it bypassed but I have not had the opportunity to drive it in extremely hot conditions like you would have in FL. I say try it for yourself and see.
my experience on this is yes it does help on the bog during hot weather. I'm currently driving with the coolant bypassed during the winter and no the throttle doesn't freeze up. as for the acceleration, i think it helped a lil but prob nothing thats really too noticable.
I don't know if this means anything but an experienced S driver drove my car and noticed it pulled stronger than others. I have a DC Password intake with the bypass you guys are talking about.
I would do it if you have an intake. The joint pipe fixture is half unused at that point so removing the rest of it is a welcome clean up in the engine bay. It gets rid of a lot of hardware.

I have had mine done for over a year now. I did a combo of Hondata gasket and the bypass. I forget what the exact numbers were. But after multiple tests with temp probes, infrared meters and acceleration times. I can say it works.
It ran a little more than 12 degrees F cooler all the time, then fan came on less and I have not noticed any heat related bog since then.
As far as acceleration, too little to really measure for sure.
