here is the link for the ball bearing method....

well like i said before i'vbeen driving without the coolant flowing thru the throttle body during the winter and have never had the butterfly stick open or close. theres still heat in the engine bay for this to not happen. what I have for mods is a air intake extension to my stock airbox with a K&N filter. I'm sure that when the cold air that enters the scoop is a lil warmer when it goes into the throttle body. it still has to flow thru the airbox so the engine heat must keep the box warm.
What i did was and it's going to be hard to describe but i'll do my best.
right now the coolant goes into the throttle body, goes out into the IAC i think it's what it's called.it's screwed into the side of the intake manifold. flows thru it and then ack into the block.
what i did was the pipe that goes into the throttle body, i extended it.
now the pipe that comes out of the IAC back into the block i connected it to the pipe that goes into the throttle body. so now the coolant goes from the front of the engine back into the block under the IAC. so no coolant goes into the throttle body and the IAC.

See the green arrow that faces downwards that doesn't have a pipe connected to it? thats the pipe that goes back into the block. connect that pipe to the pipe that goes into the throttle body.

Im a little confused. your leaving the pipe with the green arrow pointing down uncovered? and you reroute the hose all the way on the left without any green arrows into the pipe that goes back into the block (not shown in the pic obviously)
Also that front part of the throttle body the hose goes in will also be uncovered?

i have a hondata intake mani gasket and also by pass the coolant line. i also make a nylon gasket for the IACV to insulate the heat from it to the throttle body. also used nylon washers through out. i used a infrared heat gun to check to temp difference and it show that the intake mani and TB is 20 degree cooler on average.
that does not mean that the intake air is 20 degree cooler because the air doesn't stay in the mani that long to absorb that much heat, and the inside surface of the mani is smooth, so it doesn't transfer heat that well. not like an intercooler where it's design to transfer heat. i would guess that the intake air temp is only 5 degree cooler at best.

When I bought my car last year and summer came around it was bogging very heavily in traffic, I did the blocking procedure but instead of blocking the short hose that goes on top I blocked the one underneath that goes into the engine it is much easier. The bogging went away as soon as I did that, it is like a totally different car. I also insulated the intake pipe with air conditioning black rubber. I'm thinking of installing one of those small fans that you put on your dashboard under the intake manifold to blow air on it as well. I couldn't find any steel balls anywhere so I used 38. caliber bullets, just the lead part. Maybe you know somebody that reloads their ammo and can get a couple from him.
The bypass keeps the hot coolant from going into the intake manifold so you get some relief on temperature. The Hondata gasket is the way to go if after doing the bypass you still get bogging or if you have the time to remove the intake manifold.
