Is your Stook a 2000 or a 2001? Is the install time for the hard top the same for the 2001 because I thought the 2001 is prefitted to immediately take for the setup of the hard top and you only had to retrofit the 2000's? What did your mechanic charge to install it or was that included in the price of it for $2,995.00?

Has anybody gotten a hardtop on Yellow? I'm curious... Black and silver are probably the only two colors I would put a hardtop on.

Those are beautiful pics of your car (and your house), rstark. Really nice!

My install took me 5 hours, but it took that long because I was ultra methodical and didn't want to screw anything up. I'm sure I could now do a second one in 2 - 2.5 hours; it is really that easy. I'd thoroughly recommend anyone doing it themselves. It's almost impossiblke to screw up if you follow the instructions, step-by-step. You use only a couple of basic tools, and just need to be brave enough to pull off a few panels. Doing it myself gave me great satisfaction, and also saved me a few hundred bucks (at least).

BTW. The main differences between the MY2000 and MY2001 install is that on the MY2000, you install a new console and a new side trim piece (provided in the extra kit); the rest of the instructions are the same. If you're interested, you can print out the instructions for both at: http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000.html (The MY2000 is the link shown with the extra kit.)

Awesome looking. Looks like the Merk SLK's; just not as expensive. I need to find one of those, but also need to find a decent dealer in the Silicon Valley area that could do it. My dealer (AutoWest Honda - Femont, CA) that I bought my car shafted me big time and I'l never go back there again for anything - even though their service department seemd to be really good.

SiK182,
I live on Oahu on the east side. If you're on Oahu for a while, send me a PM before you get here and I'll show you my car.

Jaded41,
My car is a 2001, and no they're not prefitted to take the hardtop. I don't know what Honda's installation time is for the 2000 model. See my reply to Psicho54 for the details on what's involved. I paid for installation at the time I purchased the car. They charged me for 3.5 hours of labor, which I believe the rate is $60/hour, but I'm not certain. You can do the installation yourself if you want to save money. The instructions that you can download (in my previous reply) are detailed, step by step.

A hardtop in Hawaii doesn't puzzle me too much. My Mother-in-Law lives on Maui and having remted a convertable on occasion while out there, I can appreciate a hard top.

Now a black car in Hawaii..

Exquisite

Great pic's of a great locale and an even more beautiful car.

The more pic's I see of the hardtop, the more I am thinking of getting one. The funny thing is that I never even drive my car with the top up (maybe, and I mean maybe twice since buying in March '01). It's just that it looks damn nice and would probably make the car much easier to take (from an NVH perspective) on a road trip.

How's wind noise? I seem to recall someone posting that they were experiencing wind whistle with their hardtop and maybe it was due to a bad install job.

Those pictures of Oahu are killing me. I'm Hapa Haole (hence the handle) and this is the first year in a long while that I'm not going "home". We're saving for our wedding and decided to foresake the vacation this year

Again, beautiful car. I hate to think how long you took waxing that black beauty up.
