This happened to me a couple of months ago. Original adjusters opinion was around $389. Took it to a reputable repair shop here in Austin that has done a few S2Ks and he convinced the insurance company and estimator to replace. It's perfect, but he final price was in the $7xx range.

I wasn't rearended, but some guy decided to back into me. He basically wanted a parking spot real bad. He threw his S10 in reverse, I used my little girly horn, and bang. His insurance did not get off easy... 4000 euros plus a couple hundred bucks on a rental...

i got the estimate today from d&v autobody. with a new bumper and paint, it came out to 650. but i hear their work is high quality,so its definately worth it. he said he could just repair the area that was damaged, but since the car is so new and in such good condition, its better to change out the whole bumper.

again, thanks for all the input.

Razor, i feel your pain as well. I too was rear-ended 3 weeks ago and am putting her in the bodyshop next week. while its there my S is getting the Honda front and rear spoliers also ! Interesting, my bodyman got a quote on his computer and came out to be $736. $300 of that is for the rear bumper itself, the rest for paint and labor. when i went to Allstate for my check (went through the other parties insurance since it was her fault) the Allstate guy came up with the same figure. Seems the insurance companies nowadays know exactely what a bodyshop should be charging them, and when they are over-charging and trying to put money in someones pocket

Sorry to hear about that. I can imagine how you feel. Hope you get it fixed soon and start again.

I know how you feel. You have my condolences. Same thing happened to me and the car wasn't 3 weeks old. First do a lot of rear view looking. People are crazier than ever and maybe you can maneuver out of their way.Second, unless you do great paint and body work, take it to a good shop. You want a good color match plus you want to be able to know if there was any other damage underneath the bumper. Honda doesn't sell a prepainted bumper. If your car is gray - it is one of the hardest to match. Many good body shopswill take longer to do that color because they want it to match the rest of the car. :
Good luck

Zam, noticed your number plate mounted over the front grill and not on the bumper. I'm no expert but doesn't that make it harder for the air to flow over the radiator and into the engine (for cooling)?
I'm just wondering if your number was mounted that way as a consequence of the accident damage?
