Default Finally a solution to frequently being pulled over

I get pulled over all the time in my F Red S2K. I've yet to receive a ticket. I guess the attention the car gets has a negative aspect to it - the police can't help but notice.

I qualify for veteran plates. I've never bothered with them in the past - something about it never felt right. I served four years in special forces in the early 90's during some pretty crazy combat, so I think I've earned any veteran special treatment, but didn't bother with the license plates. I ordered the plates - you have to prove your service - and put them on a month ago. Bingo, the attention has changed in tone. I've been pulled over twice by two different cops. Each time they saw the plates once they had pulled me over and didn't even bother to get out of the car. They just pull around and wave!

I'm obviously happy with the change. I was second guessing my purchase decision of the car due to the unwanted attention.

So, my recommendation is to pick them up if your state offers them, you qualify and you feel you're being picked on.

What about getting the plates wouldn't feel right? I agree, you've earned a couple perks and you should take advantage if you can.

side note: since you were in the special forces, perhaps the cops are worried you may kill them using only your key fob, so they let you go.

Does the same go for handicap license plates? I wonder if people with disabilities get treated any better than non disabled folks.

So putting Veteran plates on your car is like using a "Jedi mind trick", the police pull up, see the plates, and just say, "move along, move along." Pretty cool.

When you've been involved in some pretty hairy action, lost brothers, and made it out yourself, you tend not to want to draw attention to yourself.

When I came back from Desert Storm, one of the things I told my relatives was not to point me out or make any kind of big deal over where I was or what I did.

My serving over there was considered an informational thing to the public, not a bragging thing. I didn't really realize this was something others may have felt too.
