Find a Cure for Cancer
Damn! Some of you guys are blowing me away. Ianbrown what kind of computer do you have that can blow mine away like that? I've got an Athlon 1Ghz with 256MB PC133 running W2000.
Cthree,
keep in mind that Intel is a sponsor and that the code is optimized for use on Intel machines. I have the two sniffers at work running the software from 7 PM to 7 AM, but they each can only return one result every two to three days. One of them is brand new and can monitor gigibit network speeds, so this software is a resource hog, mainly on the processor. In June they are supposed to release version 2 of the agent. Intel has gone through their code and has found some area where their code has caused bottlenecks on the processor. This will be resolved as well as return better reults to them.
As for my machine, it has 512 MB of 800 Mhz RAMBUS RAM, SCSI storage and multiple processors. Not bad for a home PC.

For the new people that have joined since this started. Here is the S2000 Cancer Research Group. For other that the software was really slow, it has been updated and the work unit redone to allow faster processing. If you haven't already joined or dropped out, please try it. After all. it is free and you are helping out a worthy cause.
