Wow, this is an oldie, but a goody! I had completely forgot about this.

Thanks to over 1 million participants the UD program is well ahead of schedule and in phase 2!!

Here's my story:

My mother has cancer which started as a spot on the back of her right lung. Due to the low density of the tumor it was not detected by xray and was only only found after it had spread to her lymphatic system.

I visited her radiation oncologist last Friday to get the results of her latest MRI scan and an update on her condition. The cancer has spread through her spinal column and to her brain (I've know this for some time). As it progressed up her spine it left little droplets which are growing and cutting off her nervous system. She already has paralysis in one leg.

The news is that the radiation treatments didn't help. The tumors continue to grow which means that within the next couple of months she will become totally paralyzed and need institutionalized care. The tumor in her brain is the least of her problems.

The cancer has not affected her major organs to this point which means she'll have to live this way for some time to come, maybe as long as a year or more. The doctor said "the worst part is that you wont be able to die".

We need to find a fix to this monster. Your help with the UD project won't help my mother but it might prevent yours from going through what mine is. Please contribute your unused computer time. You are doing a great thing, it costs nothing and you won't even notice it running in the background. Every computer counts!

I can't either from outside or inside my firewall.

I noticed that when I tried to register, apparently someone had already used the name that I was trying to register.

I finally discovered that in the upper left corner was a box with a check mark in it that said that I was already registered (or something to that effect) and I had to keep trying a different user name until I found one that worked. Of course, you have to keep removing that check mark each time it fails.

The program has a very strange way of telling you that the user name is already in use.

I don't know if that's your problem, but that was mine when I tried to register.

My 56-year old mom lost her long and couragious battle with breast cancer a year ago at 8:46 pm on New Year's Eve. This photo was the last one taken of her, on Christmas Night. I hope I haven't offended anyone by personalizing this thread but I just want to say "thank you" to all who have joined the fight and encourage others to help out in any small way you can. What better gift could our generation leave to our sons and daughters than "the cure."
