Default Fine for no Catalytic?

I know everyone always says its a huge fine, but I want to hear from the people who actually received the fine, not "ive heard this".

Has anyone in Cali gotten pulled over for no cat, and how much was the fine?

The cop checked cuz he said my exhaust sounded like there was no cat. I'm just trying to see what kind of fine people have received, not what the maximum fine is.

Most people I know who run test pipes haven't gotten pulled over for a test pipe yet. They've been pulled over for other things, but never a ticket for test pipe.

Did he jack your car up or something? I know with my stock exhaust, you have to pretty much crawl under the car to see it. That is unless you admitted it...

he peeked under for all of like, 5 seconds. And my car wasnt jacked up, he just looked under. I didnt admit it since I told him my father drives the car until I'm out of college, buthe just told the other officer there wasnt one.

Actually, it is a federal law and it states $2,500. And it is "any emission control device," not just the cat. However, I have never heard of any enforcement of this federal statute.

sorry, never happened to me either (still use cats)

an OKAY friend with an audi s4 was running tps and he ended up getting his car impounded temporarily and a decent fine (under 1000)
He was pulling an illegal U, got pulled over and the officer found out by just looking over his car briefly.
