Just came back from another fun but low rpm drive.........like I said - it will be a long 600miles
I really can't comment above 4k or so, but it definetly has more pull down low. Really noticed it when I started out in 3rd instead of 1st . Since it was rushhour here in the 'burbs, I was able to get an idea what it is like in traffic, and there does seem to be less of a need to shift (personally, I LOVE to shift, but you don't have to if you don't want). Like mentioned previously, it is really slick shifting into gears. I remember the shifts in the previous models as being a little on the harsh side (not in a bad way, just seemed to take more effort) and shifting into 5th and 6th esp. seems very smooth and positive on the new model (previous version seemed a little hard to find when shifting quickly - may have been just me though
)
As far as the supension is concerned - again, I haven't been able to really push it, but I have taken a few quick corners and like the previous versions, this thing is like on rails!! I really can't tell if its any softer or not, but it does seem a little smoother overall. Body roll seems the same (very little) and the steering is pretty much what it felt like on the previous years. I can't tell any real difference in lock/lock turns (only a .2 difference anyway).

FOUND OUT HOW LONG THE NOSE IS TODAY
Less than 3 days and the first mark is on the bottom of the bumper - oh well, it was going to happen sooner or later . I swear, they lengthened the car by 2mm
Had a chance to drive the car a little more aggressive today (still low rpms, but some fun/tight S turns)
There are a few turns that I knew would test the suspension/handling of the vehicle - and man, am I impressed. I've not taken these particular turns with another S2K before so I can't do a fair comparison, but have been through them with other vehicles. The S was just incredible!!
The turns are filled with mid-corner, car bouncing bumps, so I proceed to take them as if they were smooth
. As I hit the apex and got back on the throttle, the car bounced, rear end stepped out and just as quickly returned back on line (just a hint of counter steering needed). I have taken similar turns with an older S and don't ever remember this stability on rough turns. I was very impressed. I was tempted to try some lift throttle tests, but there were quite a few obstructions along the road (trees, boulders, mailboxes etc.) that I really didn't want to hit (those 3 little scratches on the bumper are enough for one day). I really want to take these corners back to back (old then new) to get a more accurate comparison for you guys.
I am now 1/3 into the breakin mileage - hopefully a lot closer after tomorrow
, then the true fun begins
BTW - It's starting to sink in that I actually own one of these cars - after all these years it's mine
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!

isn't it interesting how less than 2 months ago, the majority of us were all put off by the proposed changes, particularly with the motor and suspension, and now it seems nearly everyone is envious and excited about the MY04's. just an observation, that's all...
btw, congrads to the new MY04 owners...
