First Drive. Wrecked
Hopefully I might get some pictures from insurance or something...they are actually picking it up from the wrecking yard and towing it to their own centralized location to perform the estimate. The conditions where the wreck took place weren't good...snow had been falling for maybe an hour, not heavily but still enough to make the roads wet and slick.
I was in 6th @ about 60mph in the left lane...I slightly rolled into the throttle without downshifting while switching into the right lane. The car broke traction right as the right tires hit the middle of the road (I guess since cars hadn't been tracking down that part of the road there was ice). The car was on street tires and the rears probably were going to need replacing in the next few thousand miles, they weren't bald or anything but street tires + ice = fail.
I'm still sick about it all. I just keep thinking there's going to be too much body work to actually have it fixed. I just hate being in limbo and not knowing it's status. Hopefully sometime today or early tomorrow I should know what's going on. I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Update on the car, guys:
Talked to USAA and they are picking up the car today to take to their central location to have an estimate performed. Luckily, they said their total loss breakoff point is typically 75-90% of the cars total value including taking the vehicles aftermarket parts into consideration. I should hear from the adjuster within 1 week of pickup so hopefully this time next week I'll have some info.
QUESTION: Is there a specific bodyshop anybody can recommend within the Dayton area?? I of course want quality work, but at a fair price...maybe a shop one of you guys has actually had work done around here?
Thanks again for all the help and support

Wow sorry to hear this man. Best of luck with getting it fixed, and hopefully it'll be as good as new. Sometimes it's crazy to me reading these stories how s2k's seemingly wreck so easily, but I guess it can happen to anyone, especially people new w/ the car. I'm fortunate to have a beater in the winter I guess.. I don't think it'd be a lot of fun/safe trying to drive the s2k in snow/ice on a regular basis.
Yeah I definitely agree. It seemed to happen so easily; one second I was in control and the next I was completely sideways. The thing is, this car wasn't even going to be driven in the winter. I have a winter vehicle, I was just trying to get the S home to its garage.
I found a reputable shop...C&D Collision Center, Inc. They have a great reputation with quality work and turnaround time...this is all assuming the car will actually be able to get fixed. I'm thinking I'll have up to $8k for repairs before they total it (based only on the market value with no aftermarket parts) Hopefully that limit could go up closer to $10k with a higher estimate. I'm so bummed about everything...I barely have eaten anything lately it's got me so screwed up.

I think I saw you in the ditch, just west of Dayton, right?
Glad to hear you are ok! In the future, if you are driving that S or another in snow, I highly recommend snow tires.
...and more importantly, a lot of practice. Take it to the track to learn how to drive the car in traction limited situations. You must be pretty close to Mid-Ohio?
