First Drive. Wrecked
Glad you're okay. I go right by your area every day, and I do worry quite a bit about the same thing happening to me.
I live in Troy, and have been winter driving mine back and forth to Columbus every day during the week. Fortunately, I also have access to an all wheel drive winter vehicle for the crappier days but it's not one I own. Anyway, I did get caught in the crap we got last Thursday night.
My car has decent all seasons, and even those feel like a freighttrain of pain waiting to happen when driving on snow. We didn't even get much snow last week and it was still painful driving on any side streets.
Currently I'm saving up for some rpf-1's this spring with a summer tire so I can get those ws-60's on my stock rims for the future winters.
So Tommorrow we're sposed to get 2-4, last I heard. Yay.

haha thanks stauren! I know it's just a car, but I fell in love with the S immediately. I keep reading through the older wrecked/is it totaled posts...I feel like I might be in luck, but I don't know...there was just too much body damage. I'm still hoping for pics from insurance.
truthbw, Yeah on friday on my way back I could tell it wasn't a good situation, especially on the street tires that were on the car. I'm hearing there's going to be up to 5in. as well. Good thing I drive a beast as a daily so no problems there...I'm starting to keep an eye out for another S since it's seeming like it's going to be totaled. All the body work + a top and new glass all around is just going to tip it over the edge I'm thinking. I could be/hope I'm wrong.

Wow, what are the odds? Glad you're okay. I crashed mine a few months ago and insurance decided to fix it despite a $12,000 estimate, but I'm still sorting out suspension problems, so I hope you have a quick and satisfactory resolution.
Thanks for all the replies guys. It's nice considering I just got off the phone with the wrecker yard, I was asking them if USAA didn't get there to pick up the car today if they'd throw a tarp on it to keep the snow from getting into the interior (I'm just trying to keep anything else from getting ruined)...all I got back was "I'll tell you right now that car is totaled." I mean WTF, do you work for the insurance company? Don't get me wrong, the chances are high that it is...but for goodness sake, I'm trying to stay positive considering there was no powertrain/suspension/or visible frame damage.
Thanks whitebrad, my insurance company has been great, but of course they're not going to go in the hole on a car to get it fixed if it's going to cost too much. I can already tell this S2k community is rock solid and I appreciate all the replies. Regardless of what happens, I will be an S2000 owner...whether it's this one or a different one.

It was hard to read this thread.
I live in Virginia and yesterday was the first day in a couple weeks I felt safe to take the S2000 out on the roads as the roads were dry and any salt left was pretty much on the shoulders. Nevertheless the car felt very touchy (after being used to driving my Toyota Tacoma and Honda civic winter beater). The temperature was near 30 degrees and I could feel the loss of grip my summer performance tires had on the pavement.
One thing about the 2000-2003 S2000's is the super close ratio steering rack...the slightest turn of the wheel and the car changes direction instantly! I wonder if this had something to do with your crash. Changing lanes in an S2000 when you are used to a lifted truck can lead to changing too quickly and loosing traction on summer tires. I had someone pull out in front of my last night on the way home and had to hit the brakes, just a normal hard braking pull for the S2000 and the ABS engaged on bone dry pavement! In the summer I can stand on these brakes and the ABS won't engage unless the road is wet.
S2000 + summer tires + cold pavement = bad things. I would compare driving on cold dry winter pavement to driving on wet pavement in the summer as far as traction is concerned.
I hope you get her fixed up. That was/is a beautiful car. Love BB.

I'm sure being used to the lifted truck had a lot to do with it. I definitely wasn't used to the car's handling characteristics and it's cost me. Seems like now I'm just hoping to get back what I had to borrow for the car. I might end up taking a hit though, I borrowed right at the kbb value for the car...paid a little extra out of pocket considering what was done to the car. I don't expect to get that extra back, but I guess if I can get back enough to pay off the loan I'll be able to eventually hunt for another one. My hopes just seem to keep dwindling the more I think about it.
