First experience above 6000 rpm
Just the other day, I passed the magic 600 mile mark, and so I allowed myself a trip into what others here have referred to as VTEC Land. Definitely liked it, but it was different than what I was prepared for. Nothing magical really happens. It just appears that the engine seamlessly continues to put out torque with no drop off at all - I can't notice a specific transition. Don't get me wrong; I think that is a very good thing. Chickened out at 7500. Yes, I know there are lots more revs above that.
As for the audible effects, they are indeed very impressive. If the torque seems to stay fairly level, the sound virtually explodes in intensity. If my Significant Other could shriek and howl like that during moments of, er, er, ... romantic encounter, I would be the happiest man on earth. Fortunately, I can hear that shriek and howl whenever I want to now.

Mine definitely "comes on the cam" at 6000 RPM and it's like a turbo kicked in. I mean it takes OFF! I would expect yours to do the same. You have an RPM limiter that will protect the engine, and the engine was engineered to perform all day at this rpm. Enjoy it don't hold back. I particularly like third gear for getting ON the freeway. I point it at the left lane and bury the throttle. Of course, you need to be in the VTEC range to begin with. It's just amazing how quickly this car picks up speed.

I've found that my VTEC engagement becomes more pronounced as the mileage increases. I have 24k miles on my car and the feeling at 6000rpm is sometimes enough to break the (well worn) tires loose in the low gears. Just be patient and I'm sure you'll start to feel the change.
7500??? That's like torture to your car. You shouldn't tease it like that. It won't be happy until you take it to nine grand. If you're gonna go past six, might as well take it to nine
Remember, the car has been waiting just as long as you have

O.K., you guys are right. I tried it again yesterday (now close to 700 miles on the odometer). Wide open throttle, up to 8000. This time I could feel a definite step-up in power as I crossed the 6000 point. It is fairly smooth, but a definite increase in torque. At that 8000 rpm, the screaming of the engine nearly drowned out my wife's screaming about that #@$&% loud noise. Next time, I will be sure she is not with me when I hit the floorboards.

jelliotlevy you should definitely feel a pronounced "kick" from the car as it passes 6000 RPM, the VTEC engagement in this car is not at all subtle, as it is in my Integra GS-R for example.
Be sure you have the gas pedal all the way down, the VTEC cam is sensitive to several different factors, and if you're not pushing hard on the gas, the ECU may not engage the VTEC, and therefore you may not feel the rush.
My first VTEC experience was shortly after passing the 600 mile mark on the odo, and it was unmistakable. Hoping it only gets better with more miles as many here say it does.
