Dunno if it's been mentioned but next time get the license plate # and file a police report.
Only draw back is that it is not anonymous and once it is filed the party you are filing against has your contact info too.

Although... if there is no damage done to the car, just call the police and follow until cops catch them and go on your merry way.

if i had known the guy was not trying to get his keys i would have gotten the tag number, or tried to. they left ina hurry and a green ford turus is a common car, we even have police who drive them under cover here.
yes damaging someones car is a horrible way to mess with someone and is very cowardly. this kid told my little brothers friend he was planning to egg our house, not knowing the friend knew my little brother and so i proceeded to get the kids phone number and talk very calmly to his drunken father and told him about his sons plans and how nice of a car i drive (its nice to me and everyone in my small town) the only time i ever got tone with the guy was when he asked me how old i was with a very rude manner (i sound older than i am which is 17) i simply replied "old enough not to go to jail when im done with your son after he eggs my car" told him to have a nice day in a polite manner and hung the phone up. no eggs on my car and no kids are dead.

Sorry man, I know exactly how you feel. A long time ago, my boyfriend and I were driving in Berkeley (east bay) and some losers pulled up along side us and chucked a 40oz beer bottle at his car. It left a nice dent on the gas cap. For no reason whatsoever - just because we had a nice car.
I've gotten a lot of negative attention myself. I like cars, and I've always worked my ass off to get them and take care of them. For some reason that seems to really piss people off. Being young, and female, only makes it worse. I always make it a point to park away from other cars because I know people don't give a damn if they smack their door into the side of someone else's car. People have no respect for other people's property - and everyone and their mother has a Hummer, Excursion or Suburban around here. They will pull in and leave 6 inches between their truck and my car. When I do park at the end of the lot, 90% of the time, I'll find someone who has gone completely out of their way to park next to me anyway, even if there are 200 other empty spaces. Apparently, that's how they get their kicks.
What ever happened to showing some respect? I know that whenever I see a nice ass car, I either give the person a thumbs up, peace sign... whatever. But NEVER have I ever thought of messing with their car just because they had something better than I did. People need to grow up. You have a problem with someone, take it up with them, not their car.
I dread the day someone messes with my S2000. I know it will happen sooner or later. Makes me want to carry a brick in the car, just in case. I live in an apartment, so my car is outside 24/7 when I'm at work, school or home. I worry about it all the time, but unless I want to sleep outside, there isn't much I can do.
Sorry people have to be assholes.

And as for callin the cops when someone is stupid enough to throw shit out the window at you, 99.999% of the time youre gonna need some form of concrete evidence to actually have any real leagal action taken. I recommend dash cameras, lol cant get much more concrete than that and a video would stand up great of some dude chuckin crap out his window, charges could add up fast for the individual id guess. But in the end people like that will get shot one day, so they may have gotten away with it today, but they may get a bullet in the head tomorrow, its dangerous on the roads now days.

You have totally hit the nail on the head, and its not just in cali, i travel ALOT for my job and encounter the same situations all too much. I will go a rediculious way outta my ways to avoid some tank SUVs and ALWAYS when i come out theres one right next to me, really annoys me at times. Had a Excursion with a very large lady in it try to squeeze inbetween me and a boxter in the "Compact Car" parking spaces, so me and the guy driving the boxter both leave our spaces to get away from her barge and then she has the audacity to call us tight asses for moving. Man, when i see another hot car, I always give atleast 1 parking space space between me adn the other car, i just see it as being considerate and respectful by respecting peoples personal space... seems people do not value or consider that in todays society.
There are numerous times that me and a friend of mine go to a Dunkin Donuts just to have a coffee and hang out a little bit and this lot is huge... I mean huge... meaning never full. So what I do is I park away from everyone else to that no one parks near me. Do you know how many idiots are out there that will come park right next to me when there are about a million other spots that are open and closer to the Dunkin Donuts?... It's ridiculous. And of course they're not the average size sedan... no, it's more like Lincoln Town Cars or like a million SUV's that have doors that swing out with a ginormous swinging radius...

That's why I like to park on spots that are at the end of an isle. Then park SUPER close to the wall or curb. The parking job does look funny ... but at least I feel there is more room for error ...

Also... on the end spots, if there is no curb or wall, I usually park the car all slanted so that the part of the car where the other's car door would hit is no where near the car. Like you said... it looks like we're horrible at parking, but little do those people know that we're doing them a favor of giving them room and giving ourselves a huge sense of relief... lol.
