First Honda???
1st Honda - 1987 Honda Accord LXi hatchback. The thing would have ran forever, if a friend of mine didn't run it through three and a half feet of water, throwing rods, and mutilating the engine back in a flood (Houston) early 1992. I loved that car!
Third for me.
'93 Milano Red Civic SI
'97 Milano Red delSol VTEC
01 Spa Yellow S2000 - on order
But what got me into Honda's was Autocrossing a friend's Black CSP '87 CRX SI
Still one of the most fun cars I ever drive...I guess you really never forget that first love.

3rd Honda for me: 97 Civic; 99 Odyssey; 00 S2000. All three have lived up to the Honda reputation for reliability, including the S2000. I haven't had single solitary thing go wrong or even hint at going wrong with this car (and yes, I have put this car through its paces. no, I don't drive like your grandmother
). I know many people have had legitimate problems, but let's make it perfectly clear that these problems are not endemic among all S2000s.

The rear wheels of both a mid-engine car and a rear-engined car are located very close to the center of gravity of the engine/tranny combo. This is because with both designs, the gears/case/etc. are on one side of the axles, and the engine is on the other side. Additionally, on the 911 the axles angle slightly toward the rear of the car (about 3" per side), further helping to 'balance' the engine/tranny weight on the rear axles. This means that the two types of cars are very similar in handling traits, with a very small concession to the mid-engine design due to smaller polar moments in abrupt maneuvers (hence the need for a smooth, skilled, driver to extract the full potential of the car). In other words, the NSX would have very little handling advantage over the 911 except in very abrupt transitions (like on an autocross course).
To answer the original question, this is my first Honda car, but I have owned several of their motorcycles. The S2000 is a great car, and very much like an early 1970's 911S in performance, handling, and 'feel'.
Actually my second Honda. My first Honda was my first foreign car. Great car for a high school grad. I had American car prior, but got sick of having to ride the bus because they were always breaking down.
When I started looking around for a new car, I wasn't looking at Honda because I wanted performance. I walked into a Honda dealer and this little convt. followed me home. The rest is history.
