Very nice choice in cars. If i were to upgrade from an S2000 to another car it would be the e46 m3 or nsx.

Again NICE car

Hi

Regarding suspension: It is very possible that it's technically less stiff than the S2000 but to me it just _feels_ as much or more stiff than the s2000. I feel the bumps more.. Even when I had my 18" rims on the S2000 .... But the M3 just seems to be more bone-jarring over bumps.

I didn't even consider getting a convertible since I was really stretching with just a base M3. The S2000 came to 51000$ Canadian when I picked it up and the M3 coupe 6 spd was 73500$. SMG (seq. transmission) would have been an extra 4900$, 19" another 2500$.. 73500$ was enough for me!! At 27 with a house supporting my wife the base M3 was my limit (sold my 2 motorcycles and the S2000 to get it, 2001 cbr 600f4i and 1997 suzuki gsxr 600)

If I were to pick up another car the Z06 would have been my choice. The Z06 kicks everything's ass. However for me at 73500$ the car had to be practical and a Z06 is just not practical.... I agree though that the z06 is amazing.. the m3 is the perfect compromise!!

M3's are great cars. I know some people here think the S2000 is the ultimate car ever made, but I'd take an E46 over my S2000 in a heartbeat... I just can't afford that heartbeat right now.

Rob;

Congratulations on your new purchase.... The M3 has always been my all time favorite automobile... A fantastic and hard-to-find blend of luxury, sport, and practicality.
I am 27 as well, and when I bought my S2K last October, I was tempted to get a 99 E36 M3. However, not having the Euro engine with 321hp, made me a little reticent in buying an M3 that is not the real "M3". Now that all M3 have the same powerplant, I am starting saving my pennies....

Great choice....

Post some pics when you have a chance please.

The E46 M3 is as heavy and wide as a 5 series now.

To me, going from a S2000 to a M3 is not really an upgrade, its more like switching to a different type of car. When you go from an S2000 to a M3, you are going from a "fun, raw, race-car like car" to a sporty sedan/coupe type of car..

The E36 Euro Evo M3 was the best M3.... Oh well..... BMWs are getting fatter and fatter as each new model comes out....

I actually was the lucky owner of one of the first 2001 M3's 13 months ago. I waited over a year for the car to arrive and have to say although it was an excellent automobile, the $20,000. difference in price was not worth it. I get far more attention and have a bigger smile on my face with my s2000. I did make a nice $5,000. profit on the M3 which allowed me to purchase some nice aftermarket parts for my S20001

eeew C32 over M3? no way.. C32 = Auto transmission, softer ride, very little feedback to the driver ( compared to m3 ) and it looks like a regular C class....

although we ran one against a 996 911 and the cars were dead even.
