I am buying a 2002 s2k in the next week, and I'm just wondering what intake and exhausts you guys would recommend. I have over a grand I can spend when I get it, so I'll actually be ordering the parts relatively soon. I was thinking of going short-ram on an intake, since I'm not really concerned on the power gain. Also, I wanted a cat-back exhaust, but most likely the quietest one they make for the s2k. I really don't want it to be loud...just very low.

We already have a "short ram" intake on this car. It just happens to be inside a box. If you must have one, just take the lid off. An exposed short ram intake will only suck up all that engine bay heat and lose your power. Get a Cold Air Intake instead. There are several good ones out there. You choose based on looks and how involved you want the installation - Comptech, K&N FIPK, AEM.

In your price range and needs, I'd say the Fujitsubo would fit the bill. The other "quiet" exhaust would be the Mugen but it's really pricey.

Where in NJ are you located? If up North, you can come to our weekly Starbucks meet in Edgewater and hear the exhausts/intake for yourself.

Only reason I don't want another CAI is because I worry about sucking up water, cause it happened to my friend in an s2k. Is the Fujitsubo a dual-tip? I like the stock look.

The Fuji is a dual.
The Comptech and K&N air inlet is high up in the engine bay. The only one that takes it from down low is AEM but those who have it, install and "umbrella".

Okay, thanks a lot. I am very new to the s2k and I drove WRX's and STi's before that, so I'm still learning. I have always gone with K&N, so I think I'll buy that. And I'm sure I can find a sound clip of the Fujitsubo on the forums. Thanks.

i just installed the k&n fipk, and am very happy with it. It took me and a buddy about 20 minutes to do. I am sure you will like it.
