first mods questions, need some basic info
Is this car going to be driven in snow? If so...I can't really recommend an all season tyre. You'll want a seperate winter and summer set.
For summer:
The new Conti Sport seems to be an excellent tire.
The Firestone recommended above is getting great reviews.
Bridgestone S04's are another nice choice.
Any of those should be better than the OEM RE050's in terms of wet and dry traction.
Longevity is as good as any Max Performance tire...expect around 15-20K miles or so. Maybe slightly less because you cannot rotate.
They will keep the car's character without adding noise or harshness. They're all good OE replacements. They all make for a good package for performance and daily use.

Guys? so one thing that I don't want is that "anerexic tire" look. I'd like to make sure the wheel well looks reasonably full....you know some of these performance tires can tend to look very small and get lost in the wheel well...
this I assume starts getting into the tire profile discussion....anyone got pics of their s2k with the firestone firehawk indy 500's on them....I'm gonna google for images to see if there are any out there....thanks

Max performance tires usually run slightly wide.
Stock sizes will look like the stock tires that are already on there. Except the new ones will have more tread...so they'll look more meaty to start.
If you want them to fill out more, use a 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 combo. The stock wheels will accomodate those sizes fairly well.

Drive the car first. Before you go buying wider wheels and mega wide tires, see how you like it stock. Maybe a good set of sticky tires in stock sizes will suit you well.
Wider front tires reduce turn in feel and responsiveness. So there are advantages to stock sizes. Modern rubber is so sticky, stock sizes may be more than you need for the street.
An intake and exhaust are mostly appearance and sound mods. Not much gain from either. The only reason to replace stock cat is if you plan to tune, and to lower vtec rpm as part of tune. You'll need to replace stock cat with hfc or tp to lower vtec effectively. Otherwise tp or hfc does virtually zero.
Imo, the single best mod is to lower vtec rpm. Fatten tbe middle. With an '06 plus this is as easy as Flashpro. More difficult with the older ones. You'll need a tp or hfc. Thats it. Best bamg fpr buck by far.
Honestly beyond that, you'll need to go with power adders, FI, nos, etc, for any decent power to dollar ratio.
Which is where tires and brake pads and suspension come into play. More performance, just not straight line.
Brakes, unless you're going to track, where you'll need to increase heat capacity, bigger brakes will be a waste. Not helpful for street or autox. Just get a good set of pads (stock pads are very decent for street and autox).
Stock suspension, if not worn out, is also very, very good. Excellent for the street, decent for autox and occasional track use.

Will I need to do a combination of the test pipe + flashpro? mine is an 05....you say it's more difficult on older then 06, but is it doable...I'm going to start reading more about the flashpro, Is this a chip install or sort of like a ECU flash?/update ? thanks
based on your responses and some online reviews, youtube video reviews, hearing nothing but good things. Price is right so I have ordered the firestone firehawk indy 500's....will update once installed and road tested....psyched!! thanks for all your input S2k world...this site rocks!!
I'd like to know more about lowering the vtec/rpm and fattening up the lower/middle of the rpm power band.

People don't usually do all that, as its not cost effective if you don't have a 06 to start with.
You may not feel as if it is necessary. Drive it. It'll make you happy in stock form.
