Default First Oil Change

Hey Guy,

I have quick question regarding First Oil Change...

I bought the car(MY07) brand new back in January and have not done Oil change yet...

I currently have 3000 miles on the car and my Oil Life Indicator still says I have 60% of Oil life left...

What should I do? I know the manual says I should do it when it reaches 3750... But since it's like 8 month since I got the S, I am little worried here...

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I say just go by what the manual says, especially for the first oil change. Funny, because on the 2006 manual it said to do the first oil change when the oil life indicator was at 15%. Did that change for the 07?

Check the 'break in" section.

(Actually, I would have to double check, but I believe it says 15% oil life indicator or first 12 months, whichever comes first)

I asked the dealer (and in the manual) and they told me to wait until it indicates it's time. It took me 8500 kms and 6 months before I need to do my first oil change. No problems with the car. I'm now at 17500 and my oil indicator is showing 20% life left. Just wait until it tells you, the computer takes into account many variables including number of short trips, percentage of city driving, stop and go driving, revs, and how long its been since the last change, etc.

Incorrect, wait until the oil life is down to 15% or 12 months are up, and then change the oil.

Also, drive your car more!

Also, Honda puts special oil when the car first comes from the factory. They recommend you don't change out that original factory fill until the recommended interval. It's supposed to help break in all your engine internals.

You have the wrong manual !

The 07 Manual specifically says to NOT change the oil until you get to 15% on the oil minder.

I hated that big time, I am used to changing oil on a new motor at around 500miles to get rid of all the chunks and it was hard waiting until I had 4,700miles to have the oil changed.

My dealer thought it was much too soon for a oil change, most people get over 5,000miles before the oil minder says to change it (guess I drive correctly)
