Default First Oil Change

I just picked up my s2000 friday and Honda said that not to change any engine oil until 7500 miles for the first time. I always change my first engine oil at 700 miles for my all cars. I'm just wondering what you all did.

Thanks

its important that you dont change your oil the first time until 3750 miles. Reason being that there is an "additive" in the oil that comes with the car that helps with the sealing.

First oil change should be at 3,750 miles.

That's what I thought too.. but the Honda saleman kept saying "Honda does not remember people change their engine oil till 7500 miles. You can change your oil every 3000 miles after that if you like.

Screw the salesman!...and keep a close eye on the level for the first 3,000 miles, having to add a quart or so during break in is normal.

My dealer told me it's very important to rotate the tires on the vehicle.

Read the owner's manual for yourself. It's the Engineer's letter to the owner.

Try this....post a poll and ask how many people had it changed at 3,750 vs 7,500.

There are two service regimens. Normal and Severe. You have the freedom to decide which one you will follow based on how anal you are and/or how you drive. Short trips are the worst. If you drive less than 5 miles frequently, you need the severe schedule. Otherwise you're probably normal.

You can also go between. On our CRV I change the oil every 4 months and the oil filter once a year.
