If I recall, Your first oil change should be at 7500 miles (normal driving) or 3750 (severe driving) or one year, whichever comes first. Read your manual and don't listen to your salesman.

under no conditions would i EVER leave oil in my car for 7500 miles, i dont care what the manual says. if you ever changed the oil after 7500 miles you know it looks like liquid MUD. our cars deserve the best, please dont go cheap on them. oil change every 3800-4000 miles!!!

I changed engine oil on my ITR every 2500 miles because oil burning and high rpm issues. I just want to make sure that I'm not hurting the engine.

Too-frequent oil changes only hurts your pocketbook and the environment.

Do what you want, but I would suggest you don't do your first oil change before 3000 miles, and you don't use synthetic until you reach 7500.

They say synthetic is "so slippery" that it interferes with proper break-in.

Who are they??? Your break-in oil has additives to help the engine parts seat properly. That is why you should keep it in as long as possible before 7500 miles (normal driving).
