First Oil Change Question?
I just bought a blue 2003 S2000 used. It has 2620 miles on it and was originally purchased in July of 2003. I will get the car in about two weeks (having it shipped) and want to know if I should change the oil in it or just wait a little longer since it is the first oil change. I have read the many discussions on this but this one is a little more difficult...
1. It has the special "break-in" oil in it that should be changed around 4 to 7k miles
2. The oil has been in there for at least 6 months.
Thanks for any help!
Can't wait to get the car!

Hi:
This is serious flame-bait. I personally left my oil in until 7500 miles, but I drove the heck out of it and it wasn't in there for 6 months. Read the memo Woodwork put out and do what you think is best. Bottom line? The engine will last until you over rev it, wreck it, or just plain tire of it. *grin*

i changed my oil out with 2k miles at 6-7 months. oil does go bad after time, and no regular conventional oil should be left in there for a year.
i know there might be some special breakin fluid, but i know many who changed teh oil out way before the recommended period and they are having no problems. my engine has about 5k miles on it and it will not burn any oil AT ALL unless I engage vtec often(which is normal). just stick with castrol gtx 10w30(high moly content, same stuff found in the breakin fluid) and you should be fine. my engine is getting stronger and stronger by the day.
be sure to use ~5.1-5.2 quarts of oil(including the PCX filter change).
