first test drive
Sorry to carry on with the audio questions in this general thread, but since it's already going...
Jason, is the rest of your stereo system stock. You've simply hooked the rear channels into the Bose sub? I'd be looking to change as little of the stock stereo as possible (at first) and if adding some bass helps fill in for the lack of extra speakers then I'd probably be happy for a while.

I am contemplating an S2000 currently but only because its a honda and is a convertable.
If you are looking for a good car that has a kick you can actually feel, go for a Subaru STi or Mitsubishi Evo. Both will rip an S2000 in 1/4 mile and will beat an S2000 around the track.
I actually own an STi which beat plenty S2000's when it was stock. Now I focus on bigger game at the dragstrip like heavily modded V-8's and vipers. My test drive in the S2000 made me really contemplate buying one but only because I have my V-10 killer STi already.
STi/Evo=Kick S2000=Pimp

Yes, I've test driven the STi & the EVO. The EVO had a great turbo rush, but was so low on usable torque that it knocked when I tried to perform simple 2nd gear U-turns. Plus, the thing just felt cheap.
The STi was a real blast. But the wing & the misguided ground effects aren't my thing and I just don't know about the longevity of an engine with that much turbo boost. I fear that anything that is that race oriented is going to wear out quickly & I can't afford to have my only car in the shop. Is that your first experience with a WRX? You've modified yours so I don't know if it's worth my asking your experience with reliability?
Besides, I originally was quite ambivalent regarding the whole convertible thing, but the more I consider the S2K the more I really like that idea.

Just FYI- The Evo is running 19PSI and the STi is at 14.5PSI. But the Evo motor is proven to be able to handle this (forged internals, iron block) whereas the STi does not come with forged pistons or iron sleeves.
The fact of the matter is that noone really knows the reliability of the USDM STi EJ257 motor because it is completely new. The Evo motor 4G63 has been proven for years and will also hold up to much more boost then 19PSI.
I owned a WRX before the STi and only for a year so I can't comment about reliability on it but I never had problems.
What color did you see the STi in? I would suggest that you really take a look at all of the colors because some are less "ricey" looking than others. Some people ask the dealer to swap trunks with the same color WRX to delete the wing entirely. Usually not a BFD because there are a bunch of people that would like an STi on their brand new WRX and they can make some money.
Also, if you end up taking my advice and do find a color that you like, get one soon because the 04's are going fast and that is the truest Subaru Japan spec car (minus the motor). And the 05's have technical changes that makes any true JDM lover a bit scared.
