First off yes I searched, I have been stalking for about a month now. I test drove an '04 with about 86k on it. The engine just sounded loud and maybe rough. Is this normal without getting on it for this car? No knocking, no white smoke on decel, gears shifted smooth on higher rpm, just sounded louder than expected. I owned a '90 crx when I was a teenager and that engine didnt make a noise until you stepped on the gas. I will be trading in my lifeless '12 NA Veloster, but with a ton of warrantee left on it. I have been test driving evos, wrx's and 3 speeds but I am finally in love. Thank you in advance for the responses. Keep looking or get it?

 

Hmmm hard to tell from the description. These things idle a little wonky at times. Mines not noticeably loud. For an all stock car, it's actually fairly quiet for being 10 years old and having 75k miles

Where are you located? Maybe a current owner will chime in let you listen to his/hers to compare. Just because it sounded louder than what you expected doesn't necessarily mean something's wrong with it.

i was too surprised by the sounds of gears, transmission and the buzz of the motor, Honda didnt even TRY to reduce noise (as far as i know) so it really sounds/feels like a go cart. Theres no other car like it and im 100% glad it makes every noise that it does. Just wait till you get a 3'' catless exhaust

You could compare to videos like this one. The guy starts it and drives around in the later half of the video. You can hear the engine all the time pretty much.

x2 on this. my mkv vw gti with the resonator dropped seemed quieter than this car does. Love all the noises the s2k makes its all part of the experience.
