Default First time convertible owner - question

I'm assuming the top is waterproof. My question is how. Does it have a waterproof coating like scotchguard or is there a waterproof layer sandwiched in between? If it's a coating, will that wash off if I wash the top with soap? The fabric just seems awfully thin to have a middle waterproof layer.

I believe the top is vinyl, so it doesn't depend on an external coating that can be washed off. It should remain waterproof with no special precautions.

However, like other vinyl tops it may deteriorate after many years of sun exposure, so applying something like 303 protectant may extend the lifespan. That's the common wisdom anway.

jarod,

I don't know how it's waterproof, but it is. It's not something that will be affected by soap. I've parked my car in the pouring rain for days and it hasn't leaked.
