first time kicking the ass end out - whoops!
was doing a u-turn and was a bit too spirited on the gas in 2nd gear and without warning i skid all the way across in opposite direction. but instead of aggressive countersteering since there was no traffic (it was too late by that point anyway) i opted to just let it take its course and do a full spin. it was hella fun but i definitely don't want to be doing that again in the streets. lesson learned..
^^ agreed with above. The rear end getting loose on a light rwd car should not catch you by surprise so much that you end up completely out of control. A little practice and you'll be able to handle it. Even go to a large empty parking lot and practice a bit...

New tires have a release compound on them, which takes a good 50-100 miles of hard driving before the tire is scrubbed in. Rookie move regardless. New tires are slick, which should be accounted for when making sudden maneuvers.
was def a rookie move, i didn't realize new tires were so slick.
smokey - i would love to be able to drive like that. skill goals..
i've done two runs of auto x in a 2017 cadillac ats (automatic, bleh) during a demo event, that was really fun but the car wasnt all that thrilling.
call me crazy but because i enjoy my S so much, i'd like to keep it as a daily driver (not abuse the crap out of it) and when i pay off the loan for it, i would like to sell most of my belongings to fund a first gen NSX to use strictly for track days.
