First Track Day
Well I did my first track day and didn't put in the wall. One thing I came away with is it's about the driver not the car. I drove in the 'novice' catagory. In my group I passed a pontiac gto; Mercedes Benz CLK55 AMG, Lotuses Elise, Corvette, Porsche 911 Carara 4, and a Maserati Gransport. And just so you don't think I'm blowing smoke I was humbled in that one car did pass me a G35. He was filling my mirrors in the corners so I waved him by. It killed me that it was a G35. I found out later he was an instructor. It was awsome to see the car shine at Sebring. My instructor was quite impressed with the car asking what I've done to it. The car is bone stock other that a Modifry shift beeper (BTW I could hear it with a helmet on I really like it) My instructor stated he would recommend the car as it is track ready out of the box. I was running RE01Rs. They performed amazingly well (there was a slight rain) My instructor also commented that he really liked the tires. (BTW I received some advice on the racing forum to go with stock tires and pads for my first time. I think that was good advice) I was thinking about getting Comptech sway bars and an Xbrace before I went. I gotta tell you there is nothing about the handling of the car I want to change. I'm afraid I'll wind up with something less then what I started with. (although I understand I may need to make adjustments when I switch to Toyos or Nittos). I guess what I'm saying is don't mod just to mod, spend the money and take our track cars to the track
