Default Fixed my soft top

So earlier I found my ragtop slashed in front of my house. Seeing how I dont have alot of money to buy a replacement ragtop nor a hardtop... I went and googled some stuff online. I found a helpful and affordable way to fix it for dirt cheap.. This is what you'll need

Duct Tape
Heavy Duty Upholstery Thread ($1.49 @ Anna's)
Darner Needles ($1.79 @ Anna's)
Window & Door Sealant ($2.39 a bottle @ Home Depot) Only needed one!

I started by taking the rag top off the front of the frame of the top. It makes it alot easier sewing the top back together. Make sure you sew about 2cm apart everytime you make a new hole to make sure its sturdy enough.

Im not the best sewer but I did what I could with the help of my pops

Next: Use Duct Tape on the inside of the top. (go inside your car and put tape on the part where you are sewing.

Once you've done that. go ahead and put the top back on the motor 4 screws on each side and 7 in the middle.

The top should go on perfectly and the thread will hold

Apply the silicone Door & window sealant on the sewed area

After applying the silicone use anything to smooth it out to your liking. I used some scraper used to remove gum. It worked.

And let it dry.

Once it was dried Remove the tape you put on the side of your car. Im going to wait til tomorrow to do this. but it should be good after 4 hours.

Im now thinking of getting some primer paint and paint over the clear silicone once it drys. but we'll see.

Hope this helps...

Not bad at all. Necessity is the mother of invention. Post up some pics after you appy the paint. Nice job, overall, though.
