Fixing a door ding.
In addition, be aware that there is more to PDR than just popping the dent back out. I watched the guy work on mine. In addition to slowly working the metal around the edges of the dent back out, he periodically takes a polished metal punch and works the metal around the edges back toward the middle from the outside. Remember that the metal is stretched and you can't just "pop" out the dent. Still, $500 - $600 seems way high unless they really can't get to it without removing the entire door. The issue then is the time to reinstall and realign the door.

With any luck, some part of the dent may pop back into place, since the metal has some 'memory' of its previous shape.
Your picture reminds me of the dent that I had on my car. The only difference is that my dent was on the fender (right next to the "S"). It was on the crisp body line as well and very close to the edge.
We had a dent day here in So Cal and the guy charged me $50 to take that dent out. Came out flawless. Couldn't tell there was ever a dent there.
The prices you've been quoted are rediculous.

Now THAT dent is just unbelievable. You have a great dent guy down there. Hopefully whoever comes in on Tuesday from DentPro will do just as well.... to a dent almost 1/8 that size.
Guardiase, what did your dent guy tell you Tuesday?
My driver's side door got pushed in a few months back. It's hard to see because it's shallow and over a fairly wide area, but looks aweful if the light hits it just right.

a crazy dude kicked my car two days after i bought it. dented at the line, right in the middle of the passenger door. repair place charged me $600., and repainted the bumper free since they were blending paint already. insurance co. paid me $850., so i broke even after the deductible. it's a beautiful car again.
I guess I'm a wuss but, unless I was confident I could do this job properly, I wouldn't touch it myself. I think it would be worth paying the dent guy for his tools and experience. Paint damage is a real possibility around a dent and the dent guys know how to keep the paint from cracking and requiring expensive paint repair. I think you should be able to have this dent repaired for under $100.
