Smile Fladeboe Honda

I walk into Fladaboe Honda in Irvine, CA today and look at a black 2004 S2000. Let me start by saying they want $38,000 for the car (which I was told has 50+ miles on it), it comes with factory alarm and headrest speakers. Obviously there is some dealer markup going on here. One of the goons starts talking to me, and I ask about the 05 models. He informs me that the S2000 is being discontinued (same thing another sleaze ball told me back in August at this same stealership) and that there will be no '05 models. So I tell him that Honda just announced the 2005 S2k. So now he changes his story to "they will be discontinuing it after first quarter of next year" . These scum bags will tell you anything to make a sale, I recommend you don't shop there. And on a side note, their service department sucks, they didn't even do the oil change that they claimed to have performed on my other Honda . Can anyone recommend an honest Honda dealership/service department in the Irvine area? Or who knows, maybe these guys know it all and the '05 will be more after April . These guys think they can scare me into buying the car right then and there. Well I have news for them if they are reading this, I will NEVER, EVER, buy a car from you, ever again. Crooks. Does anyone else have good/bad stories about this place? Anyone think this quarter 1 05 stuff has any merit it? What's up with them thinking they can get 38k for this thing? They must be living in 2000/2001 still. Ok, end of rant, I'm tired, time for bed.

PS. I am hoping to buy/order a black 2005 S2000 around January-March '05. I refuse to pay even a single cent over MSRP (I actually plan to bargain for less), and I want a car with single digit miles on it, not 50+. If I have to drive 100 miles to get a good deal, that's what I'll do.

My local dealer (Downtown Honda, Spokane) had a 2004 white/tan on the lot. The sticker price was $44,000! The car had satellite radio, headrest speakers, front and rear spoilers, side strakes, hardtop...in short, every available dealer installed option. Oh, Yes! The price included a $3,400 "market adjustment." When I see that, I just keep on walkin'.

I bought my S2K ('02 model) from Fladaboe Honda back in Nov 2001. I paid $38K out the door. I thought the dealership was cool. I bought my car thru the phone (the car was scheduled to come in a week) and everything was smooth. It was their first '02 S2K.

Similar thing happened to me in a couple dealers..
In Fairfax, VA, I asked if they had any silver on reds, and he went on to say the 2004's changed and the red interior makes the car $40K and told me to go ahead and ask around..
In Palo Alto, CA, I asked for the same thing, and the guy told me that they don't make those anymore (in broken English)..
I think we can all agree that what the salesman says means nothing. After all, they're salesmen.. just doing their job.

Fact is, if you hang around this site for even a minimal amount of time, you know more about the S2000 than just about any Honda salesman (except the few that have an interest in the car past selling them). I suppose reason would suggest this makes sense. Most dealerships get fewer S2000s per year than they have salesmen. Why bother with details on a car you may not even have the opportunity to sell, even if it IS your job? The sad part is, most probably don't know much more about he Civic or the Accords either.

I'm not putting down salesmen, as I'm just stating some of my (many) observations. However, I would say, to me (although not to everyone)car salesmen are useless because I will ALWAYS do my research ahead of time and ALWAYS know more than the salesman. In that case, their rambling generally distracts me and pisses me off. Why can't they just keep their mouth shut while I look. I'd rather see an automobile vending machine. You walk up, select a payment method, push some buttons and they call you when it arrives.
