Just wondering...I understand the HID lights generate a huge current when they first go on
Is it harmful to repeatedly flash lights when passing, etc

If I'm not mistaken the HID lamps are low-beam only, and the "flash-to-pass" activates the high beams, which are halogen bulbs.

Next time you flash, check your lights. The HIDs go on as well.

 

I tend to agree with the first three, can anyone run outside and double-check this?

 

flash to pass = both HID and High beams are on, all to do with the warm up time of HID lights. If you flash to pass at night and the HID goes off then on again you would have a short period of low level light before the HID warmed up again!
i believe there could be an easy way to bypass the HID on during the day time flash to pass but this would be for one of you budding moddists to figure out.

 

The question is, is it hurting my electrical system, bulbs, ballasts, etc?
