Default Flirting with a Supra (long)

Well, some of you may know that I was trying to decide between the S2000 and a Supra TT. Well, today a local dealer had a 95 Supra TT in stock that had 104K on it. I test drove it. It had bald rear tires so I couldn't go through the curves fast. The turbo was nice, but didn't seem as great as I thought it would be. It got up and went on the straights, but it really felt heavy and cumbersome. Totally different than my Prelude. It had shit for power below 3000 and only at 6000 rpm did the 2nd turbo kick in making it feel faster than my Lude. The redline is 7200 rpm, so not much time in the good power range. Add to that the interior was F*CKED. The leather seats were all cracked and it just looked OLD. Whoever had the car maintained it mechanically, but did not give a rats ass about the interior. The build quality looked less than a Honda (could be age though). I have a Friend with a 93 Prelude and his interior looked so much better than this thing. They wanted 19K for it and will prob get it in Austin. I'd rather have my Lude than this Supra. Possibly the shocks were shot, but just stearing it seemed like I was driving a Camaro. Actually a Camaro felt better. Anyway, I don't really care how fast they are anymore. I'm getting an S2000 for sure. If I ever want just an all out fast screamer, then I'm buying a 68 Camaro and build it myself. For 19K I could have something that kills just about anything out there.

I've bumped my date up to August cause I decided to wait for a black/black one.

On another note, I put Motul 600 in my Prelude and by by fade. Nice stiff pedal now. I need some better pads though. The PBR Metal Master Pads I have overheat too quick and loose some stopping power.

I had a '97 Prelude SH, followed by a BPU+ '97 Supra TT and then the S2K. Sounds like you saw a bad example of a Supra, b/c there's not much to complain about IMO. Mine handled better than the Prelude (very close to the S2K, just not as light feeling). It had tons of power (too much at times, IMO) - the 2nd turbo would kick in @ 4K rpm, but even below that it had much more power than the Prelude or S2K at similar rpms. Build quality was great, comparable to my Hondas. I wouldn't compare any aspect (steering, etc.) to my '94 Z28 - they were worlds apart. I kind of missed my Supra while watching The Fast & The Furious yesterday, but still have no regrets about switching - the S2K is simply more fun despite its lower performance level.

The Supra was in bad shape. It definitely needed new shocks, tires, and seemd to have some hesitation problems. I could tell when each turbo kicked in. At around 3000 the first boost of power could be felt, then around 6000 the second. It was not very impressive. Probably had some major boost leaks or something. The car really just felt "old" and abused.
