Default Flywheel

I've searched for a good bit and haven't found what I was looking for, not to say it is not on here somewhere, just can't find it.

So, can someone point me in the right direction or give me their opinion on what would be the best bang for the buck flywheel to get(also getting Rick's 4.56 gears) for a NA S2000, that may eventually be used with FI?

Comptech lightened steel or a Fidanza aluminum flywheel would be great. I put the Fidanza in mine. It lets the motor rev quicker (than stock) and frees up about 7hp.

I've heard from bulletproof automotive that the toda flywheel is the best for our vehicle.

How come noone is sporting the Elda flywheel?

Its Chromolly and aluminum, which is the best of both worlds, and according to them, the lightest on the market? Can anyone comment? I am leaning towards the ELDA one.....

light isnt always better
this is due to the fact that once you shift the revs drop a lot faster as well. i had one in my old car and i would just stick with stock again

the 0-60 times dropped for me when i upgraded to a lighter one.
also gas milleage lowered as well because i had to gas it harder to keep the car from bogging off the line

i have comptech...its nice...I don't think flywheels really free up much hp at all. But I do love the way they make rev matching...just so...so nice

Some other negative effects is the engine is much easier to stall. When I put the clutch in as I am coming to a stop the rpm's drop so fast sometimes the engine can't catch it and it will just die.

It also adds a level of difficulty when tuning it. Idling becomes much more unstable from the lightened flywheel. Back when I had an AEM EMS (don't even get me started on the AEM EMS), as soon as the AC compressor kicked on it would stall the engine. It took hours of tuning to steady it enough to where the engine wouldn't stall from the AC.

My car is still stock. Going to a lighter flywheel is something I've thought I might try when I "need" to replace the clutch but probably won't go to the trouble before that.

When you're talking about accelerating a given amount of mass to 9k rpms, lighter is obviously better but I haven't a clue what the actual hp improvements would be.

I found your comment on rev matching interesting. One of the biggest problems I have with rev matching (I'm talking down shifting here) is that the engine revs so quickly that I usually overdo it. A lighter flywheel would only make that problem worse which is why I'm not totally convinced it's something I want to do.

FWIW!
